Keep Alumni Records Fresh: Contact Enrichment With Human Review
Where does the class of 2018 work now? For most schools, the honest answer is "whatever they told us at graduation." Alumni databases age badly — and every stale record is a mentoring introduction, a career talk, or a work-shadowing host you'll never find.
This release keeps those records alive. Contact enrichment pulls current professional data into TEX with one click — and, just as importantly, puts a member of staff in charge of every single change.
One click, current data
On any contact, staff can now click Enrich User Info. TEX looks the person up through our enrichment partner and proposes updates: current job title, employer, work history, education, location, and LinkedIn profile. Need to refresh a whole cohort? Bulk enrichment handles up to 100 contacts at once.
Every proposed change appears side by side with the current value — approve or reject each field.
Nothing changes without your approval
Here's the design decision we care most about: enriched data never writes itself into your records. Every proposed value lands in a review queue, shown side by side with what's currently on file. Staff approve or reject each field individually. Approve the new employer, reject the outdated location — your records, your call.
School data deserves that caution, so the guardrails are firm:
- A daily enrichment cap per organization keeps usage deliberate
- A 30-day cooldown per contact prevents wasteful repeat lookups
- Revealing personal email addresses is an organization setting — off by default
- Every enrichment is logged: who requested it, when, and what changed
Add a contact with just a LinkedIn profile
Sometimes all you have is a name and a LinkedIn URL — a parent volunteer, a promising alumni lead. You can now create a contact without an email address: paste the LinkedIn profile and TEX finds the work email for you at save time. If none is found, the contact saves anyway with a clear "missing email" marker you can filter and backfill later — and TEX guarantees no message is ever sent to a placeholder address.
Your dashboard now tells you what needs doing
Alongside enrichment, the staff dashboard got a rethink. A new "Needs your attention" row sits at the top: pending enrichment reviews, contacts missing emails — each with a one-click path to resolve it. Vanity numbers moved down into a compact at-a-glance strip; widgets with nothing to say simply don't appear.
The staff dashboard now leads with what's waiting on you — not just counts.
Key takeaways:
- One-click enrichment pulls current roles, employers, and LinkedIn profiles
- Every change is reviewed and approved by staff, field by field
- Daily caps, cooldowns, and privacy-first defaults keep usage safe and deliberate
- Contacts can be created from just a LinkedIn profile — email optional
- The staff dashboard now leads with actions, not numbers
